Aqua Sports Team Gallery Profile

instructors   Catering team:  Always ready with a smile and a hot drink, our catering team are here to keep you fed and watered with a constant supply of goodies! All keen watersports people, when they aren't behind the counter, they can be found on the lake practising their skills ready for the day they become Instructors!

Trainee / Assistant Instructors: these guys and girls are enthusiastic to say the least! Aspiring Instructors, they try as hard as possible to be on the water at all times. Usually, you can see them learning the ropes from our more experienced staff, helping with anything and everything from catering through to RYA courses.

Office Team   Chilling out in the office: (left to right) Jodie, Issac, Roland, Chris and Amanda

Office Team:

Sue Searle:  A new addition to the 2009 team, Sue has taken up the office assistant and catering manager mantle. Expect some seriously organised office administration and some fantastic food in catering this year.

Watersports Instructors:

Rolland    Roland Pettit: It is great to see a whole new generation of homegrown instructors coming up through the ranks. Roland is just one of those. Newly qualified as both a windsurfing and dinghy sailing instructor, Roland is proving to be a popular and dedicated team member......

Colin Penn: Watch out world, Colin is a secret super hero - officially the strongest of all our instructors and a part time defender of the nation! Colin is a multi qualified instructor with plenty of ideas and a great approach to his teaching. We welcome him to the team....

Chris Thompson: Another keen kayaking instuctor. Chris has only recently been discovered by Aqua Sports but we intend to hang on to this talented local boy with his energy and enthusiasm.

Alex Thomas: We only had the luxury of Alex's teaching part time last year. But this year he's back with us for another whole season, Alex is a keen and dedicated Dinghy instructor.

Hans    Han Schwenk: Hans has decided to return to the team for 2009 bringing with him some expert canoeing skills and a seriously side splitting sense of humour. We guarantee an entertaining course with Hans.

Jon    Jon Davies: A local boy, Jon did an instructor course with us last year and then swanned off for some global travelling. This year we are lucky to have him join the team. Not just a windsurfing whizz but also a dinghy sailing instructor. Jon is a great success with all his students with plenty of charm and positive feedback.....

Issac   Issac Turner: This young talent hails from the Isle of Wight so we are very lucky to have him working so far from the coast. Issac is great new instructor who demonstrates a laid back enthusiasm which is popular with our young clients. .....

Luke     Luke Boughton: a talented sailor and keen windsurfer, Luke is a homegrown Aqua Sports talent but at sailing and windsurfing instruction. During the summer you will be lucky to see Luke on land, as his enthusiasm for being on the water means that he teaches all day long, then races his own boat whenever we give him a weekend off. His boyish charm means he is popular with all ages....

Tom   Tom Mankiewitz: A skilled windsurfing instructor, Tom initially kept his dinghy sailing skills a secret. Once revealed though we instantly made a dinghy instructor of him. What's more if you headed to the slopes in the winter you'd see that Tom's a bit of a snowboarding expert too. Tom has boundless energy and plenty of experience to make him a popular and effective instructor...

Chris Fey   Chris Fey: another home boy, After an exciting season aboard the yachts, Chris has returned to the lake office as a experienced multi qualified Senior instructor. You'll see Chris in he office a fair amount as he has some seriously good IT and administration skills. But when he's not manning the office with his cheery outlook, you mat be lucky enough to get him teaching your course.

Matt   Matt 'Dude' Cude: quite possibly the most relaxed person at Aqua Sports is Matt. So laid back he often appears horizontal, Matt is the one person I have never seen stressed... yet. Matt gets a real buzz from teaching all our sports, giving it his all, whatever the level, whatever the weather. With his super laid back style and years of experience, Matt quietly sees that the show runs smoothly.

Andy 'Tabletop' Kerr: with a wealth of experience at overseas centres, Andy is one of our Windsurf gurus. A keen wind watcher, Andy is down at the coast on his days off, practising big air moves! When he is at the centre, he is the man to speak to for all your retail enquiries. We have yet to catch him out with a retail question! On the water, he is truly one of our best - calm and collected in a Dinghy, as a Senior Instructor he can teach you all you need to know, whereas on a board, we have yet to see him fall in and now a Windsurfing Trainer he can pass his limitless knowledge onto the newbie wannabee instructors! Rumour has it, he can even kayak....

Andy

Steve    Steve Schofield: no longer hugging the computers... Steve has jumped into his landie and driven off to work full time out in the big world, but, is still very much part of the team, and can occassionally be seen out on the water in his wetsuit teaching.

Sam Smithson: the heart and soul of Aqua Sports, Sam is the driving force behind the philosophy and vision that makes Aqua Sports such a great place to be. And I'm not saying that just because she pays the wages! Sam is an Advanced Windsurfing Instructor and an RYA Windsurfing Trainer. She loves to windsurf - so much so that windy days send her rushing to the sea for wind and waves! It's fair to say that she isn't keen on the cold however, in the winter months she hunts out warmer climes for, erm, training purposes!

Yachting

Charlie   Charlie Williams: a stranger to the lake nowadays, Charlie is based in the Hamble, most days aboard Big Fish, our two Beneteau 423s. With comfortable berths, (the yacht, not Charlie), its a big difference from Charlie's more extreme past as a windsurfer and Kitesurfer! Having said that, a Force 6  will still see him on the yacht, surfing the big waves!

Mel Matthews: when she's not aboard Big Fish, Mel is the voice on the phone
that supports the yachting operation. Skilled in marketing, and no mean
yachtswoman herself, Mel is a godsend to Aqua Sports and a delight to work
with.

Chris    Chris 'Cornish' Nicholson: Chris has now moved over to Aqua Sports Yachting - 'Multi Talented' is the only way to describe Chris - a keen windsurfer, he is equally at home teaching Dinghy Sailing or Kayaking. Chris is currently undertaking full training on the yacht and hopes to soon qualify at RYA instuctor.
