Trainee / Assistant Instructors: these guys and girls are enthusiastic to say
the least! Aspiring Instructors, they try as hard as possible to be on the
water at all times. Usually, you can see them learning the ropes from our more
experienced staff, helping with anything and everything from catering through
to RYA courses.
Chilling out in the office: (left to right) Jodie, Issac, Roland, Chris and Amanda
Office Team:
Sue Searle: Sue has immersed herself in the role of office administrator and catering manager. Her organisational skills have saved us from administrational melt-down and rescued us from total chaos (and makes a mean cheese 'n' ham toastie).
Watersports Instructors:
Niall Whelan: A Level One Canoe coach, Niall joined the team in 2010 as a trainee and is already an Assistant Instructor for dinghy sailing. He's full of enthusiasm and great teaching ideas that make him popular with our young clientele.
Carly Williamson: Joined us in 2010 for her college Work Placement and we are so pleased that she chose us. Carly is a keen dinghy sailor and soon became an exeptional Assistant Dinghy Instructor. Her bubbly personality means that she brightens up even the greyest of days.
Ryan Taberner: When Ryan isn’t soaking up the sun living the high life out in Gambia, we have the privilege of having him teach with us. As a multi qualified instructor every day is different, whether it is sailing, windsurfing or kayaking. Ryans’ enthusiasm means whatever sport he is doing it will be good fun.
Ruth Baker: Is now in her second season with Aqua Sports and is rapidly becoming one of our most experienced Dinghy Instructors. Ruth's cheery disposition and quiet sense of responsibility make her very popular with adult and junior customers.
Josie 'Jobo' Searle: Josie is one of our home grown instructors. Josie is a talented dinghy instructor, who is planning on becoming a windsurf instructor this summer. Her chatty and inquisitive nature means there is never a dull moment sailing with her.
Ed Fox: Ed AKA Dr fox, when Ed is not studying rocket science he is here putting theory into practice, and will make sure your sailing or windsurfing course goes off with a bang!
Chris Thompson: Another keen kayaking instructor. Chris has only recently been discovered by Aqua Sports but we intend to hang on to this talented local boy with his energy and enthusiasm.
Joelle Wright: Joelle has been an instructor here for a couple of years now. At the moment Joelle is studying hard for her A levels, but come the summer she’ll be teaching windsurfing and kayaking and generally making the world a better place with her friendly persona and a big smile! J
James McGee: Coming soon - already been and gone this season - but he'll be back in 2011
Gerrard Walker: A great windsurfing instructor, Gerrard is always to hand if you need assistance. This year he's finished his A levels and planning some winter windsurfing in Australia.
Sam Rawlingson: Coming soon
Hans Schwenk: Hans has decided to return to the team for 2010 bringing with him some expert canoeing skills and a seriously side splitting sense of humour. We guarantee an entertaining course with Hans.
Jon Davies: A local boy, Jon did an instructor course with us last year and then swanned off for some global travelling. This year we are lucky to have him join the team. Not just a windsurfing whiz but also a dinghy sailing instructor. Jon is a great success with all his students with plenty of charm and positive feedback.....
Luke Boughton: a talented sailor and keen windsurfer, Luke is a
homegrown Aqua Sports talent and experienced sailing and windsurfing instructor. This year he will be looking after the retail side of things so he is the man
to speak to for all your shop enquiries. Luke will be bringing his extensive dinghy racing experience to our Youth and Adult club members. Expect to get some racing under your belt with Luke on the Wednesday and Thursday club racing nights.
Chris Fey: With so much experience behind him in yachting, dinghy sailing and windsurfing we are pleased to see him step up to the role of Co-Manager. Chris is an experienced multi qualified Senior instructor and Yachtmaster with plenty of years at Aqua Sports. You'll see plenty of Chris in the office as he has some seriously good IT and administration skills. But when he's not manning the Centre from the office with his cheery outlook, you may be lucky enough to get him teaching your course.
Matt 'Dude' Cude: quite possibly the most relaxed person at Aqua Sports.
Matt is a very experienced Senior Instructor in all our disciplines so we are lucky to have him Co-Managing the centre this year. His laid back style means he never lets stress get the better of him...
yet! Matt gets a real buzz from teaching all our sports, giving it his all,
whatever the level, whatever the weather. With his super laid back style and years of experience, Matt quietly sees that the show runs smoothly.
Andy 'Tabletop' Kerr: with a wealth of experience both working at in the region and abroad (and indeed Aqua Sports for many a year). Andy
can still be seen from time to time at Aqua Sports running our Windsurfing or Dinghy Sailing instructor courses.
Steve Schofield: no longer hugging the computers... Steve has jumped into his landie and driven off to work full time out in the big world, but, is still very much part of the team, and can occasionally be seen out on the water in his wetsuit teaching.
Sam Smithson: the heart and soul of Aqua Sports, Sam is the driving force
behind the philosophy and vision that makes Aqua Sports such a great place to
be. And I'm not saying that just because she pays the wages! Sam is an Advanced Windsurfing Instructor and an RYA Windsurfing Trainer. She loves to
windsurf - so much so that windy days send her rushing to the sea for wind and
waves! It's fair to say that she isn't keen on the cold however, in the winter
months she hunts out warmer climes for, erm, training purposes!

Yachting
Charlie Williams: a stranger to the lake nowadays, Charlie is based in the
Hamble, most days aboard Big Fish, our two Beneteau 423s. With comfortable berths,
(the yacht, not Charlie), its a big difference from Charlie's more extreme past
as a windsurfer and Kitesurfer! Having said that, a Force 6 will still see him
on the yacht, surfing the big waves!
