DESCRIPTION: Wave Freestyle.

A World Cup Wave sail must have the potential to get the maximum out of every situation, because only victory counts. This is why the new ICE works even under the widest range of conditions, developing maximum performance under critical circumstances. This has been mainly achieved through the optimized foot geometry, a slightly set back centre of effort, and a reduced sail foil tension.

Extremely aggressive and - thanks to the optimized foot profile - a true handling miracle, especially when descending the wave: this is how our team describes this radical 5-batten power engine. Everyone has been impressed by the performance and the lightning-fast reaction of the ICE, which is totally independent from one’s own body weight.

NEW: All ICE sizes were designed for RDM masts, but are still compatible with SDM masts. That’s why the new ICE feels softer and can be easily controlled and pumped onto the plane. These abilities are also supported by the modified luff curve and the optimized leech tension. The iMODULAR.DESIGN ’s optimized sail weight continues to have a positive impact on handling. Since the ICE was designed for all World Cup spots, it functions equally well from Ho’okipa to Sylt, to Gran Canaria or at your favorite spot.

MODEL: 2010 North Natural

NATURAL – The most versatile sail of our program has been developed to deliver a high performing and easy to handle all-rounder to anyone who doesn’t want to deal with technical gimmicks and trim. The NATURAL has lost none of the positive abilities of its test-winning predecessors. In fact, the insane handling and the well-balanced performance have advanced significantly.

In the course of laborious tests, Kai Hopf developed a new sail layout that requires much less trimming know-how. This means less time and knowledge is required for the setup, without need for subsequent adjustments!

As a result, the focus for sizes up to 6.6m2 is still on handling and pressure point stability, which explains why only 5 battens are in place.

At 7.0m2 and above, the design focuses on planing power and Kai Hopf once again concentrated on simple rig control and handling characteristics. Both versions offer excellent control, a high level of comfort, and plenty of planing ability - the perfect synthesis of speed, acceleration, and handling.

The NATURAL will make windsurfing much less complicated, and we believe that for many sailors the problem of choosing the right equipment is almost obsolete.

MODEL: 2010 North Duke

DESCRIPTION: Duke Crossover Freestyle / Power Wave.

Very rarely so many physically different windsurfers became so intensively involved in the development of a single sail. This time heavyweights Jimmy Diaz and Kai Hopf put in their time as well as our flyweight freestylers Gollito, Brawzinho and André Paskowski. As a result we believe no other sail can cover the entire range from waves to flat water Freestyle as perfectly as the new DUKE.

The basic requirements for a Power Wave and a Freestyle sail are very similar: great planing potential combined with maximum handling and good controllability. The DUKE sizes up to 5.4m2, were designed as powerful Wave sails. By possessing the greatest trimming versatility of all our Wave sails, the DUKE ’s easily controlled by medium weight riders too. With the help of the brand new TWIN.TRIM.CLEW the variance of trim has improved again for 2010.

For sizes 5.9m2 and above, Kai Hopf improved the new DUKE strictly according to the specifications of our Double Freestyle World Champion Jose “Gollito” Estredo, Vice Freestyle World Champ Brawzinho and EFPT Champion André Paskowski. Already featuring 5 battens and HYPER.LEECH II it was the optimized foot geometry that really improved this season’s breakthrough in handling for modern Freestyle tricks. All DUKE models are made to suit SDM masts, which ideally fit this type of direct-feeling sail.
