Tushingham Windsurfing Masts

DESCRIPTION: 2010 Tushingham Freewave 45

INFORMATION: Built with the latest filament winding technology, the FreeWave 45 sets the benchmark for entry into the performance advantages of carbon fibre masts. A relatively high 45% carbon content makes for lively performance whilst representing excellent value for money.

The FreeWave 45 is often found in rig packages such as the Express rig. It's also a very popular choice with schools and holiday companies thanks to its exceptionally robust nature, more than capable of surviving the kind of sustained heavy use dished out in a teaching environment.

Suitability

The FreeWave 45 is suited to all non-racing disciplines, especially:

  • Progression
  • Freeride
  • Wave
  • Freestyle

Other masts to consider: For freeriders seeking a lighter, more responsive feel, the Carbon 75 is the next step up in performance.

Wave and coastal sailors should consider the RD 60, bringing a softer feel, snappier power and a more neutral feel in transitions.

DESCRIPTION: 2010 Tushingham Carbon 75

INFORMATION: Hand built using pre-impregnated carbon materials and heat cured in an autoclave the Carbon 75 is a high quality structural laminate at an attainable price level. This mast brings near-professional levels of performance and feel to the recreational sailor.

Incredibly light, with a carbon/glass ratio of 3/1, the quality of the laminate together with the ‘ProTec’ coating on the entire lower half ensures its durability both in the boom area and anywhere camber inducers engage the mast. The upper half is finished in natural silk carbon for minimum weight, low centre of gravity and fast reflex response.

The Carbon 75 is a particularly versatile mast, built tough for wave use yet offering the light, efficient feel demanded by many slalom racers.

Suitability

The Carbon 75 is suited to all windsurfing disciplines, particularly:

  • Freeride
  • Wave
  • Freestyle
  • Racing

Other masts to consider: For budget-concious freeride and crossover sailors, the FreeWave 45 is a good alternative.

Wave sailors seeking a more neutral feel in transitions and snappier power delivery should look towards the RD Wave or RD 60.

Racers and freeride sailors looking for top performance will benefit from the lighter weight Ultimate Pro mast.

DESCRIPTION: 2010 Tushingham RD Wave

INFORMATION: Reduced diameter masts are often the first choice for wave and hardcore sailors. Their narrow diameter and thicker walled configuration makes them inherently stronger than an equivalent standard diameter mast.

The RD Wave is 96% carbon fibre with the full ‘ProTec’ coating to top and bottom halves accounting for the other 4%. All top and bottom halves are guaranteed interchangeable with the new precision joint system.

The narrower diameter of the lower part of the mast has a significant effect on how it will match the sail’s luff curve. We’ve made a corresponding adjustment to the mast’s bend curve, in order to achieve a perfect fit with conventionally cut sails.

From pounding mast-high surf to flatwater freestyle, the responsive RD Wave lightens the rig, assisting any kind of manoeuvre-based sailing, while still offering good "blasting" performance for high-wind freeriders.

Suitability

The RD Wave is recommended for hard use in all non-racing disciplines, especially:

  • Wave
  • Crossover
  • Freestyle

Other masts to consider: For budget-concious wave and all-round sailors the RD 60 is a good alternative.

Riders with a bias towards blasting / high-wind freeride should look towards the Carbon 75
