2010 Fanatic Shark - Freeride

For a Free Fast Planing Sensation
To streamline the range we morphed the high-performance Freeride Eagle line into our cutting-edge pack of Sharks. The Shark’s finely CAD-tuned scoop rocker lines deliver performance and comfort. The compact and balanced outline, with wider center and narrower tail shapes supported by our CAD Logical Volume Flow, guarantees control and comfort in any conditions. Smooth rails carve through chop like powder for satisfying jibing sensations, and a clean Power-V bottom shape ensures swift water release for outstanding speed and turnability.

The three smallest sizes 100, 115 and 125 descend from the Eagle. These three global test-winners now feature high-resistance ‘Shark-Skin’. All sizes are available in unbeatable value High Resistance Skin (HRS) that’s perfect for everyday use. The larger 135 and 150 are also offered in the new, improved Carbon Sandwich LTD Edition, with light finish and a G10 fin.

Key Developments:

  • Much shorter and wider compact outlines
  • Reduced area 80° pintail for less drag, improved speed and turning control
  • Fuller front rails for a forgiving ride and smooth jibing. Thinner rails in the tail for tight turns and grip - Higher rocker for amplified control
  • Increased V for release and carving ability
  • Increased double concave for cutting through the chop on max power
  • Domed deck for comfort and ultimate footsteering feel

Fanatic Shaper Sebastian Wenzel:
“The Sharks got a lot of attention and pretty intense R&D this time round. We wanted something that would be forgiving to the first-time jiber through to more advanced sailors hell-bent on cranking powerful turns. The most important thing we achieved from the CAD analysis was the easy-to-use aspect from a more compact outline and smoother volume flow.”

2010 Fanatic Skate - Freestyle

The World Champ!
The Freestyle world gets more twisted by the day. And as fast as 2 x Freestyle World Champion Gollito Estredo and Fanatic’s hottest new talent Marcilio Brawzinho” Browne come up with new tricks, our shaper Sebastian Wenzel matches their skills with design. In fact Sebastian’s never pushed his CAD Software to the max like now. Thanks to Gollito, Brawzinho and Andre Paskowski’s input, the Skate line’s leapt into a new dimension born of generations of global test winners. A big part of the Skates’ cutting edge success is its total ease of use.

For Freestyle newbies and champions alike it’s fast-planing and simple to ride. The three shapes in the all-new line-up include 100 and 110-litre sizes, plus a 90-litre model for high winds and lighter sailors in Team Edition only. The standard 100 and 110 construction is a lightweight Biax Glass construction with light finish - for the best value weight, durability and price combo.

All three Team Edition styles feature featherweight Carbon Kevlar deck and Biax Carbon bottom construction. Put simply, they’re the lightest and stiffest high-performance Freestylers we’ve ever made!

Key Developments:

  • Rounder nose and slight increase of outline width
  • Thinner rails between the feet for improved carving freestyle manoeuvres
  • Fuller and softer rails in the nose for catch-free sliding

2008 PWA Freestyle World Champion Gollito Estredo:
“The new Skates match the pace of the Freestyle discipline. Developing the new shapes with Sebastian was a major part of my way to the world title. Just having these boards inspires me daily to take Freestyle to the next level.”

2010 Fanatic Freewave - Wave/Freestyle

The FreeWave’s shaken-up a test-winning cocktail of freestyle, fun wave and flat water blasting worldwide. As one of our most versatile and best-selling shapes, our challenge was to stretch the range of this multi-purpose style. To advance usability we improved the wave performance in the smaller sizes and boosted early planing, blasting and freestyle capabilities in the bigger models. The 2010 FreeWave line comes in five sizes - 75, 85, 95, 105 and 115.

The FreeWave 75 comes with a US-Box, to reflect it’s wavier orientation. The bigger sizes feature the Powerbox - the established standard for freestyle, freewave and freeride hulls. All models are available in: Custom Wood Sandwich construction with light finish - unique in terms of quality, weight and value. Team Edition with a super-light performance Carbon Kevlar deck and Carbon bottom lay up.

Key Developments:

  • Shorter, more compact shape. Increased outline area in the nose for earlier planing and smooth wave riding
  • 70° pintail and rounded nose - New CAD-designed scoop rocker line
  • Full rails for maximum top-end control.
  • Fuller and smoother rail in the nose area, with higher apex and more tucked-under edge

Fanatic’s CAD Master Shaper Sebastian Wenzel on one of his favourite styles.
“After assessing this style I gave a lot of attention to creating more compact outlines with fuller V, tucked-under rails and rounder nose shapes for smoothness, control and early planing. Using my CAD engineering system I’ve enhanced the rocker line that now features a higher entry point, a short flat section and a little extra tail kick to advance the FreeWave’s scale of use.”
